Things to know before your arrival

The Grounds are open to the general public from Dawn until Dusk. The Gates may be closed at certain times and these will be posted on this website


Visitors should be aware that there are no Public Toilets on the Grounds.

The nearest Toilets are in the Town Centre Carpark near to the Co-op.

Daily winter temperatures can range from -6°C to 15°C. In the summer, they range from the mid-teens to 30°C.

Due to the elevation, the grounds get 50mm of snow deposition  a couple of times a year and very rarely a little more - perhaps up to 100mm

Dogs


THE TRUST WELCOMES RESPONSIBLE DOG OWNERS


Clearing up after your dog - Please help us keep the Recreation Ground green, clean and safe for everyone to enjoy. We provide special bins for your waste. Please use them.


The Council Street Wardens patrol the Recreation Ground and have the power to issue fines of up to £80 to dog owners who do not pick up or who have dogs that are out of control. If in doubt put your dog on a lead.


There have been 3 reported cases on this Recreation Ground in the last few months of people and pets being injured by dogs that are out of control. It is the owners responsibility to ensure that their dog does not cause injury or damage to people or their property.


Dogs are not allowed in certain areas of the Recreation Ground including the Children's Play Area, the Bowls Club and Car Park, the Centenary Garden and the area shown on the map in the Carnival Field which is mown short and is used by the Over-50's Walking Football Club.

King George V Playing Field

The King George V Playing Field is accessed through the Angus Buchanan Recreation Ground and was originally part of the Trust's Estate. It is now managed by Coleford Town Council and can be used for football, cricket, hockey and other sports. It is currently the home of Broadwell Juniors Football Club and the Bowmen of the Dean Archery. To hire the facilities you will need to contact the Coleford Town Council Clerk on ctcoffice@colefordtowncouncil.gov.uk

Leonard Craze Pavilion

The Leonard Craze Pavilion is a facility which is owned by the Trust but is managed by Coleford Bowls Club. It is available to be let to the public. It can used for meetings of up to 50 people and has a kitchen and full disabled facilities.
